Hair removal WHAT IS SQUARE PULSE LIGHT HAIR REDUCTION? Pulses of intense lamp light penetrate the skin and are absorbed by the melanin in the hair, the absorption heats the hair shaft and the energy is transmitted to the hair follicle. Light and fine hairs are more difficult to eliminate, but they are not impossible. DOES IT HURT? For most people there is virtually no pain, the feeling of the treatment is extremely variable from one person to another and depends on the concentration of melanin in the skin and the size and density of the hair. WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AFTER THE TREATMENT? In most cases, there are no visible effects. Therefore the treatment does not interfere with normal activities. Redness could appear on the skin indicating successful treatment. Hair is detached from its nourishment but it still remains in its sheath during the renewal of the epidermis (peeling). A Iight exfoliation 10 to 15 days after the session can speed up the rate at which the hair falls out. HOW MANY SESSIONS ARE REQUIRED? The X-LUMIN-X light can only treat hairs in the growth phase. Approximately 20% of all hairs are in their growth phase at anyone time. Certain resting hairs can also become active due to age and hormonal modifications, other factors include hair colour and thickness. Everyone is different however an average of 6 sessions may be needed. After that only one or two annual maintenance sessions are recommended. DOES IT GIVE PERMANENT RESULTS? Yes! SPL Hair Removal is a simple three-step process. First, we gently cleanse the area to be treated. Next, we shave the area. Then the area is scanned with the SPL. The SPL energy passes through the skin and is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicle. In a fraction of a second, all of the treated hair follicles are disabled. Treatments can last from a few minutes to an hour, depending on the size of the area being treated. HOW FAR APART IN TIME SHOULD SPL HAIR REMOVAL TREATMENTS BE GIVEN? Because the SPL hair removal, it is only effective on actively growing hair follicles, treatments should be spaced apart so that the hair follicles in the area have time to begin growing again. If the treatment is given too soon, that particular treatment episode will not be effective. The answer is dependent upon several factors. However, for most cases, we suggest about 4 weeks between treatments. WHAT DO I NEED TO DO BEFORE MY SPL HAIR REMOVAL TREATMENT? Tanning should be avoided. In addition, you should leave slight stubble for SPL hair removal to be effective. Therefore, you should not shave the areas to be treated for about 3 days prior to your treatment. Also, avoid waxing, tweezing, or bleaching those areas several weeks before SPL treatment. IS THERE A SIGNIFICANT RECOVERY PERIOD? No. WHAT ABOUT AFTER SPL TREATMENT - IS ANY SPECIAL CARE REQUIRED? After your treatment, you can return to your normal activities immediately. The use of sunscreen is recommended on any treated areas exposed to the sun, and sun exposure should be minimized before and after SPL hair removal treatment. WHAT ABOUT AFTER TREATMENT - WILL I LOOK PRESENTABLE? After SPL treatment, there is usually some pinkness or redness in the treated area, which goes away after a short time.
